WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (December 1, 2011) - Lefthander Chassis and Holmes Motorsports are teaming up to give two chassis to Dells Raceway Park racers at the end of the 2012 season. The giveaway will reward drivers who race at DRP on a regular basis.
Lefthander will donate two bare chassis for the giveaways. The winners will be asked to supply the remaining components to complete the chassis, which Holmes Motorsports will assemble into a roller free of charge.
One chassis will be given away in a random draw to a Super Late Model driver who competes in all five races this season. Another will be given away in a random draw to a Late Model driver who competes in at least 75% of the events in 2012.
After an impressive showing through the 2011 season by the Alive For Five Super Late Model Series, Lefthander owner Wayne Lensing and Ed Holmes of Holmes Motorsports decided to get involved.
"It drew a lot of cars and they put on some good races. It's nice to be part of it," Lensing said of the return of Super Late Model racing to DRP.
"We want to support the Super Late Models coming back," Homes said. "We also want to support the racers who compete at Dells Raceway Park on a regular basis."
In fact, the Lefthander Late Model piloted by Dan Lensing was one of those cars that competed on a regular basis at Dells Raceway Park in 2011. Coming to the track each week and witnessing the strong car count and competition in the Late Models gave Lensing and Holmes some inspiration.
"After you race at a track for a while you become part of a family," Lensing said. "We know a lot of racers up there and it gets to be a nice thing to do on Saturdays. They have such a nice car count up there, so Ed and I decided to get involved and give a chassis away to the weekly show."
Holmes and Lefthander have partnered for 12 years and have done chassis giveaways at DRP in the past with the Super Late Model division.
"(Lefthander is) real easy to work with and they try to keep things affordable for the racer as much as they can while delivering a good product and good service," Holmes said.
Lensing echoed the sentiments of a good relationship with Holmes. "Ed is very well-liked by a lot of racers and he pushes the Lefthander Chassis name. He is associated with going around and working with a lot of teams and he finishes off our cars for a lot of racers and helps them set the cars up. He's been very good for the Lefthander Chassis name."
