Bernhagen Sweeps Assembly Products LM Shootouts

Saturday, August 27, 2016

Jesse Bernhagen of Markesan captured round 2 of the 2016 Assembly Products Shootouts Saturday night at Dells Raceway Park thus completing the sweep of both events held for the Late Models this year at the track earning him his second check for $1000 from Assembly Products CEO Ed Szelagowski Sr.
The Assembly Products Shootout gives the best of the best 20 laps to get the job done. Drivers are given the incentive of a $1,000 pay day when the checkered flag falls. "You can't wait to go, you have to go right now," Szelagowski said of his vision for the Shootout. To qualify for The Assembly Products Shootout a driver must accumulate points through weekly dashes leading up to the Shootout. The top ten drivers who accumulate the most points through the dashes automatically qualify. Two Provisionals are added to fill the field bringing each Shootout to 12 cars. The Field then drew for their starting positions before the 20 lap event for a chance to win the $1000. Bernhagen drew the outside pole position which help he take the lead on lap 3 from pole sitter Matt Clossey, and held the point over the hard charging Jake Zellmer from New Berlin who was the winner of the very first 2016 Assembly Products qualifying dash and Rio Wisconsins Steve Dobbratz, Clossey held on for fourth and Chis Storey, last years Late Model Rookie of the Year rounded out the top five. We at Dells Raceway Park would like to Thank all the drivers and teams who helped put on a great show throughout the 2016 season and especially Assembly Products CEO Ed Szelagowski Sr. for all his help in coordinating and sponsoring the event.
