Late Models - Schumann Shows The Way at DRP

Finally after three months of frustration former track champion Rich Schumann Jr. got rid of the gremlins keeping him out of victory lane and brought home his first feature event of the season at Dells Raceway Park Saturday night. Deforest area driver Kurt Clapper and newcomer from Stoughton Shawn Gunsolus brought the eighteen car field to the green flag for the 40 lap event. Clapper took the lead and looked strong in ...the caution free event as Grand Marsh driver Dillon Hammond and Schumann picked their way through the fast paced field. Schumann got to Clapper first and worked him high and low till he found an opening and left Clapper to battle with Hammond for second. Hammond won the battle for second in the late stages of the event with Clapper coming home third, Jesse Bernhagen from Markesan came home fouth and last years track champion Nick Nolden rounded out the top five. Heat wins went to Kelsey Schultz and Clapper with Nolden taking home the Dash for Cash and DRP point leader Steve Dobbratz set fast time with a lap of 14.135
